What Bahá’ís do

Since the Bahá’í Faith began in the middle of the Nineteenth Century, a growing number of people around the world have found a compelling vision of a better world in the writings of Bahá’u’lláh, it’s founder. Bahá’ís come from all walks of life and they are to be found in every nation of the world. Young and old, men and women alike, they share a common purpose of serving humanity and refining their inner-lives in accordance with the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh. Learning how to serve our communities At devotional gatherings the friends read and meditate on Bahá’í Writings and through prayer try to create a new spiritual atmosphere in their neighbourhood. Study Circles gather together families, friends, neighbours, and colleagues to consider teachings from the Bahá’í Writings on the purpose of life, the nature of reality and the significance of service. Through informal discussion these ideas are then placed into a framework where they can be put into practice. Classes for children and teenagers give young people a chance to realise their spiritual sides early on in life. Such qualities Bahá’ís believe further unlock young peoples' wider potential. Genuine friendships – meaningful conversations This practice forges ties of genuine friendship between people from diverse backgrounds – based on a common understanding of our lives and how we can contribute to our society. By sharing meaningful conversations on spiritual issues social barriers that often divide people are broken down. It is a clear expression of Bahá’u’lláh’s vision for the oneness of humankind.
